This characteristic means that if static charge builds up on the bag surface, the discharge energy will be too low to ignite a flammable solvent vapour atmosphere.
Unlike Type C bags, Type B bags do not require earthing or grounding during filling and discharge operations. This simplifies handling procedures and eliminates operator risk from forgetting to connect a grounding cable.
It is essential to understand that Type B bags are not suitable for use in the presence of combustible dust clouds — they offer no protection against propagating brush discharges that could ignite fine powders. For those environments, Type C or Type D bags are required.
